Serial No. 154603, manufactured in 1881. Caliber .45-70 GOVT. Single-shot Springfield Model 1880 Experimental Trapdoor. 32.5-inch round barrel with mottled brown patina and 1879 Buckhorn rear sight. Breech marked U.S./MODEL/1873. Lock plate marked Eagle-U.S./Springfield. Stock in good condition with light handling marks. Right side of butt stock marked 12/467; US butt plate marked with G/12. Field modification removed the projecting rears on the side; the dovetail has been filled to ease bayonet advancement. (AL10004).
